ABOUT ME
SYJ Handmade Pottery is a reflection of my growing passion for working with clay and creating pieces that are both beautiful and practical.
I’m Sana Johnson, a potter based in Amsterdam, originally from St. Louis, Missouri. Since I started wheel throwing in 2023, I’ve developed my practice through experimentation, learning, and curiosity about the endless possibilities of ceramics.
I make each piece by hand, enjoying the process of exploring shapes, refining forms, and experimenting with glazes.
My work is rooted in simplicity and everyday functionality. I’m drawn to creating considered, understated pieces that feel at home in daily life, bringing together thoughtful design, the character of handmade ceramics, and the beauty of the small details.
